Home Remedies for Hemorrhoids
When it comes to hemorrhoids, everything that we take for granted on a daily basis becomes much more difficult to do. While we consider it a time for rest, sitting down while experiencing hemorrhoids is more of a pain than anything else. This makes people try to find home remedies for hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids are the swelling and inflammation of the veins in the anal and rectal area. Obviously no one wants to experience hemorrhoids and much less go through the embarrassing hemorrhoid surgery needed to remove them. Recovery after the surgery is unfortunately painful and inconvenient, and there is no guarantee that the hemorrhoids will not return.
Hemorrhoids are commonly classified into four grades, depending on the severity of the condition:
- First Degree - This is the most basic, or least painful, of the hemorrhoid grades. This mild condition involves slight internal bleeding but there are no signs of protruding hemorrhoids.
- Second Degree - This is slightly more serious and it deals with the formation of hemorrhoids that prolapse, or come outside of the anus opening, but return inside by themselves. This condition may come with or without bleeding in the rectal area.
- Third Degree - This condition deals with hemorrhoid formation that comes outside of the anus opening, but does not go back in by itself. Instead, these hemorrhoids have to be pushed back in after each bowel movement by yourself or a physician.
- Fourth Degree - This is the most severe case. Under these circumstances, an individual can experience prolapsed hemorrhoids, or hemorrhoids that will not go back in on their own and can not be pushed back in by you or someone else. Individuals can also experience severe hemorrhoids that force the lining of the rectum to actually appear just outside the anal opening.
These four grades classify the hemorrhoid conditions by their severity. But there is nothing to worry about because many of the home remedies for hemorrhoids can cure these conditions.
Remedies aimed to tackle inflammation
1. Lady’s mantle is a common herb that you can find at your local health-food store. It’s used with tea. To use it, take a bundle of leaves, steep in some close to boiling water (roughly 180-200 degrees) for about 1/2 hour, or until it’s at room temp. Leave the leaves in the pot or cup in which it was brewed.
To apply, simply soak a cotton ball with it and apply to the hemorrhoid. Make sure to use a different cotton ball each time. Apply as many times as needed. It will help with inflammation and pain.
2. Cayenne Pepper and Garlic. You most likely have these ingredients at home. Only make sure that you use fresh, peeled garlic and avoid powders. The cayenne pepper should be of the dried and powdered kind.
Pell 2 cloves of garlic. Combine the garlic with one-fourth teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Mash the two until it is paste-like. To apply, you will have to use your fingers. It will hurt. But, the rewards are well worth it. You may experience symptom-free hemorrhoids for weeks and even months after you use it.
3. Another great home remedy for hemorrhoids is to use aloe and tomato together. Get your hands on some aloe Vera and a ripe tomato. Cut the tomato in 1-inch pieces. Apply the aloe lotion to the hemorrhoid and wait for ten minutes. Then apply the piece of tomato in your anus. Although it sounds gross, the acidic attributes of the tomato will help reduce inflammation and the aloe will help prevent any more irritation.
4. Espon Salt bath works by putting roughly one and a half ups of salt in warm water and sitting in the bath for about an hour or so. The salt will suck the moisture out of the hemorrhoid and thus reduce the swelling and pain.
